    Mathers Museum of World Cultures

    The Mathers Museum features collections that consist of over 20,000 objects and 10,000 photographs, representing cultures from the world's inhabited continents. There are musical instruments, photographs of American Indians and the Bloomington community, Inupiaq and Yupik Eskimo materials.

    Metamora Grist Mill
    Built in 1845, the Metamora Grist Mill began as a cotton mill and evolved into a flouring mill and a feed mill and is now an operating grist mill and museum. Visitors can pick up a bag of the mill's stone-ground cornmeal or flour. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from April through December during the hours of 9am to 5pm. It is closed during major holidays.

    The Lilly Library provides a rare collection, containing more than 400,000 books and more than 7 million manuscripts. There are many exhibits throughout the year and permanent exhibits are John James Audubon's Birds of America prints and the Gutenberg Bible, which was printed before 1456.

    Reitz Home Museum

    The Reitz Home Museum, located in the downtown Historic Preservation District, is a restored French Second Empire mansion that was once the home of John Augustus Reitz (a wealthy business man known as the Lumber Baron). Many of the original furnishings are on display in the house including stained glass windows, gilded chandeliers, marble fireplaces and more.
